About This Event

Welcome to one of the most exciting dance weekends in the country where you will support the National DanceSport and Collegiate Championship competitions; a Social Dance program of dance workshops and social dances; and workshops for professionals, chapter leaders, and dancers. There are 16 positions (jobs) to be filled in four shifts (7-11 am; 11am-3pm; 3-7pm; and 7-11pm) each day. Please commit to working 4 or 8 hours each day. You'll receive parking, food and competition access perks which vary by the number of hours worked. See perks in the "Important Information" below. Volunteer Positions

We need help in the following roles

Ticket Sales

Help with walk-in ticket and consignment sales, On-Call delivery of online sales and packages to Social Dancers. Four- hour shifts. Two per shifts generally with one extra from 2- 4 pm on Friday, 10am to 12 pm Saturday and 7am-8 am, Sunday.

Requirements: Prior experience with electronic sales (e.g. Venmo, Square etc.) is required

Door Monitor On-Deck Competitors

Control entry to On-Deck area by competitors only. Four-hour shifts. Two per shift/session

Requirements: Prior experience preferred in successfully encouraging coaches/instructors/parents to stay outside the On-Deck area. four-hour shifts/session

Floor Monitors Main Ballroom

Manage spectators, volunteers and competitors to ensure they comply with the safety rules while in the ballroom and monitor VIP access to designated areas. Four-hour shifts. Four/shift/session.

Requirements: Ballroom Floor Coordinator needs to review safety rules with the monitors at the beginning of each shift.

Eight-Hour Availability

Agreement to be available to do any job as needed when asked by the Volunteer Coordinator. Four-hour shifts/session.

Requirements: Prior experience is needed for Tickets, On-Deck staff, Registration and Consignment.

On-Deck Staff

Assist Deck Captain to line up competitors for their heats. Four-hour shifts. Two per shift/session

Requirements: Prior experience in managing On Deck line ups for collegiate or local, regional or national competitions is required.

Medals

Help organize ribbons and medals for the winners and assist the judges in giving out the awards in the Main Ballroom. Volunteers generally are only needed for 30 - 40 minutes when the awards are being given out. Four-hour floater shift, one per shift per session.

Requirements: Position coordinator must train the volunteer for each event in which awards are being given out and the order in which awards are being given out.

Consignment

Help organize donations and sales, oversee purchaser calls to negotiate new prices with donors, provide appropriate sales paperwork to Assistant Treasurer. Eight-hour shifts preferred, four hours required, with three per shift per session.

Requirements: Prior experience with handling consignment responsibilities, including providing appropriate financial reports, is desired

Anti-Doping Chaperones.

Escort athletes selected for drug testing to the drug testing suite and stay with them until the tests are completed. Training by the anti-doping company generally begins about 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday with escort duties for up to 2 hours. The number of volunteers depends on how many DanceSport couples have been selected for testing. 6

Requirements: Training generally is done by the Drug Testing Company several hours before the athletes are finished dancing e.g. between 9 and 10 pm

Door Monitor Main Ballroom

Control entry to the ballroom. Four-hour shift, two/shift/session.

Requirements: Customer service type personality.

Misc. -Moving Equipment

Help is needed on Thursday, March 26 from 10am-2 pm to move the equipment from the Pittsburgh storage area to the hotel, and possibly from the hotel storage area to the various stations; on Sunday, March 29 from 9 pm-1 am to take inventory as the equipment moves off the floor into the hotel storage area; on Monday, March 30 from 10 am -3 pm, to move the equipment from the hotel storage area to the Pittsburgh storage facility. Four- hour shifts, three/shift.

Requirements: Ability to lift computers, medals, etc., use excel spreadsheets and come before the competitions start and stay after the competitions are over.

Door Monitor Officials Meals & Roundtables-Commonwealth 1

Ensure access for officials to eat and for those attending panel discussions of leadership and other topics on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

Door Monitor Social Dance Workshops- King's Garden 3

Control access to the dance workshops. Friday dance workshops from 2-5pm; Saturday, dance workshops from 9-6pm. Sunday, social dance workshops from 9am-1 pm and DanceSport workshops from 1-7 pm. Four-hour shifts, one person, shift/session.

Requirements: customer service experience preferred

Volunteer Room

Assist with volunteer sign in/out; directions to Festival activities; monitor volunteer placements with captains; other administrative activities as needed. Four-hour shifts. One/shift.

Door Monitor Professional and Chapter Panels-Commonwealth 2

Ensure access to panel discussions

Door Monitor Exam Prep & Exams- King's Garden 1

Ensure access to the conference room. Four-hour shift, one per shift per session. Scrutineer's Exam, Examination Preparation for American Smooth from 8 am-1:00 pm and Examinations from 2- 5 pm on Friday. Scrutineer's Exam and Examination Preparation for American Rhythm from 8 am -1 pm and Examinations from 2 - 5 pm, Saturday.

Door Monitor Social Dance Workshops/Dinner/Dance -King's Garden 5

Control access to workshops and Social Dances. Friday workshops from 2-5pm and Social Dance from 7-11pm. Saturday, workshops from 8 am -6pm and Social Dance from 7-11. Sunday, social dance workshops from 8 am -1pm, and DanceSport workshops from 1-6pm. Four-hour shifts, one/shift/session during the day. 2 for evening shift

Requirements: Customer service type experience preferred.
